Mentor One Child. Change Two Lives.
Saturday, 26 January 2008 23:36

One of the most rewarding things you will ever do is ensure that the children of your community receive the guidance and encouragement they need to be successful. You can do this by volunteering to be a Computers4Kids mentor. All it takes is basic computer knowledge and one hour per week to make an amazing difference in the life of a Charlottesville-area youth!

Children in the program are matched with volunteer mentors who work with them for one hour per week. Together, student and mentor practice basic computers skills, learn software applications, and complete projects like building a website or creating Flash animation. Successful students not only earn a free computer that is refurbished from donations we receive from . They also learn the value of consistency and hard work and they get the priceless opportunity to work with a positive role model, something many of these children are unfortunately lacking in their home lives.

Computers4Kids strives to improve low income youth's computer and learning skills through caring mentorship, structured training, a vibrant learning environment, and access to a computer at home. The program uses computers as a catalyst for youth to challenge themselves, become engaged in their own learning, and realize greater possibilities academically, professionally, and for their community. Mentoring for Computers4Kids provides an exceptional opportunity for community members to help ensure that Charlottesville youth have the academic opportunities they deserve. Please make a difference in a child's life by becoming a mentor with Computers4Kids.
