New Virtual i.Lab Taps Global Network of UVA Innovators

Through its signature summer incubator program for new ventures and its many resources for growing start-ups, the University of Virginia’s i.Lab has helped cement Charlottesville’s status as a growing hub of entrepreneurship. But UVA’s community of innovation extends far beyond the boundaries of Central Virginia, and now, the i.Lab does, too.

The “Virtual i.Lab” went live this summer, allowing entrepreneurs in the current incubator class to connect with UVA mentors and resources all around the world.

Battlebots Hackathon Hosted by WillowTree, Inc.

Battlebots is code based game, where humans just like you, write code to move a bot around a virtual arena. When your bot enters the arena you and your bot will face challenges such as;

- safely navigating the arena
- avoiding threats like walls, bot poison, and even other bots themselves
- collecting items that will increase your bot's score
- applying the perfect algorithm to your bot, enabling it to destroy anything and everything around it

The game is over when there is one bot left standing or time has run out. The bot with the highest score wins.

When and where?
June 25th from 9am to 6pm WillowTree will be hosting the Battlebot Hackathon at the new "Treehouse" location.

Governor McAuliffe Announces New Private Sector Sponsorship

RICHMOND – Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) has agreed to participate as a Platinum Sponsor of the MACH37 Cyber Accelerator program. This significant public-private collaboration will help launch new cybersecurity product companies inside the Commonwealth, further establishing Virginia as the cybersecurity capital of the nation.
